What to wear? How to look?

My sister and I are going to a party of friends we've known forever. Other people we've known since we were very young will be there, and I want to look nice. The problem: It's a bowling party. I need to have nice hair, makeup and clothes. What is appropriate?

I have brown hair, super pale skin, and blue eyes. I am 5'3, and of course, I will be wearing bowling shoes.

Thanks in advance!

What to wear? How to look?
Hey...oh before i start, you're a violinist? Me too!

Okay, I went to a bowling party last year and had pretty much the same problem. I hate the fact that you have to wear bowling shoes because classy shoes from wedges to flats can dress up any outfit...anyway, I suggest jeans. I wore skinny jeans with slight rips in the knee (the rips were from real life, not designer).

Hollister has nice sweatpants but if those aren't really in your range, any type of jeans or (I don't really suggest short-shorts) crops will do!

Pair it up with a cute top! If you're going for a more casual look: a tank top and henley on top with a sweatshirt or jacket. If it's a tad more formal, find a sweater with a lacy cami: Abercrombie's Mandy sweater in Gray is cute, but expensive. This one from American Eagle is nice, too: http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp... . And of course, Aeropostale has the least expensive, but still cute: http://www.aeropostale.com/family/index.... . Pair it up with a cute cami like this: http://www.hollisterco.com/webapp/wcs/st... . or even Target has nice ones! http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref...

Pair it up with some accessories...brown wristlets, big shades, etc.

Also, you might want to straighten your hair and side-part, letting some hair fall diagonally across your face. Classic ponytails are nice with layered hair, too!

Good luck and enjoy your party!

Don't overdo any look, like Audrey Hepburn said, "Elegance, darling."
Reply:straighten (if your hair is curly) your hair and then curl it so the ends flip out. for makeup since your eyes are so pretty use eyeliner and a pretty glittery eyeshadow that matches the color of your outfit to bring out your eyes. a little bit of blush on your cheeks to make you less pale. as for clothes cute dark jeans (to help make u look taller) with a pretty top and a blazer over it pair it with pretty silver earrings and a nice simple necklace for a look thats pretty but casual and wont look like your trying to show how good u look but that u naturally are!
Reply:jeans, cute shirt, and cute shoes.........if i were you i would do my hair at the salon
Reply:Wear jeans and a cute shirt with a jacket! You want to be casual but not too casual. Make up: Concealer where you need it, powder, blush, mascara, eyeshadow (just a tad), gloss! Now you have the perfect look! O yeah, Hair: Straight side parted or straight with headband!
Reply:just wear whatever i comfy...it doesnt matter if they like it if u do...plus everyone has their own opinion so if somebody loves the outfit another person may hate it
Reply:wear jeans, it's sexy and comfortable at the same time

a top that is flashy but comfortable too.

U could wear any kind of make-up u want. Anything that u would look good in.

U could wear ur hair down, but that might get in ur way when bowling so maybe a head band. Or u cound pull it into a ponytail or a half ponytail.

Anything u feel comfortable in that's what is important

Have fun at ur party!

My toes itch.....?

The top of my toes itch and they are dry. It's also mostly on my right toes. On one of my toes there are two little scabs. My toes also hurt when i wear shoes. What could this be?

-Are my toes just really dry?

-Is it from putting lotion and vaseline on my toes and then wearing socks?

-Is it from wearing public bowling shoes 3 times a week?

-Is it athletes foot?

- What sould I do to help this?

%26amp; also if i itched my toes and than ate dots, could this spread?

My toes itch.....?
It could be from the bowling shoes, but you'll probably never know for sure. Some people buy their own bowling shoes to avoid possible problems from using public shoes.

Wash your feet with soap and water every day. Dry your feet really well and powder them with corn starch. Corn starch is better than baby powder and Goldbond because it doesn't contain extra chemicals in it.

If you decide you want to try some over-the-counter athlete foot meds, then you have several choices from the drugstore. I think the name brands (like Lotrimin and Tinactin) work better than the store brand athlete foot medications. Remember to follow the directions on the box for whatever medicine you get. They work better if you follow the directions.

You are probably okay on the eating dots issue. Frequent handwashing is important. Wash your hands before eating and whenever you come home after going out (to the store, mall, school, work, anywhere).
Reply:It sounds like athletes foot. (a fungus) Wash your feet twice a day, use some sort or athletes foot cream or spray 2 times aday after fully cleaning feet and drying them. It will take about 6 weeks to get ride of. Public bowling shoes probably didn't help. But who knows where you got it from. Wash your hands throughly after doing anything with feet. Athletes foot is very contagious and will spread. You may want to see a doctor or ask your parents to look at it.
Reply:maybe when u put o lotion and socks it rubbed and made a rash or you could have athlets foot and scrached tell u got small scabs or maybe something worse
Reply:It sounds like you have atheletes foot, this is very probable especially if you notice that any of your toes have little cracks in them. The pharmacist can help you pick out the best over the counter product....there are creams and powders to choose from.
Reply:Soak your feet in a vinegar bath 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water then make a paste out of baking soda. This will take the itch right out. I'd lay off the Vaseline and lotion for awhile and not wear public bowling shoes.I don't think think it will spread
Reply:It could athletes foot or it could just be very dry skin.. if lotion and vaseline isnt working then you should try some lotrimin for athletes feet and see if that helps.
Reply:Go to { genniesalve.com } It has been helping people allot, And its all natural,This stuff is great, Go check it out.

Pain after the tibular sesamoid has healed?

I was diagnosed w/ a fractured sesamoid 3 months ago. One month ago per x-ray it looked like the fracture healed (crutches and bone stimulator did the trick). After 1 month (taking it easy w/ orthotics) I went bowling and wore the terrible bowling shoes that is commonplace and now (once in a while) have a dull pain where the fracture was. Has anyone else had pain like this after being diagnosed as healed??

Pain after the tibular sesamoid has healed?
I think that this pain is normal. I don't know the reasoning but my friend broke her collar bone and ever since she has pain on her collar bone even when someone just puts the slightest pressure on it. If you go to your doctor they would probably just tell you to take ibprofen when it's bothering you.

6'4 and 5'1...oh no?

Is that like a really odd height difference? I really feel uncomfortable talking to the guy cause he's sooo tall but i like him so much. I cant really wear heels because I bowl so I have to have bowling shoes on when I see him. (its a league) i feel like he doesn't want to talk to me because i'm short so i don't bother talking to him!

6'4 and 5'1...oh no?
Short girls are HOT! I am a pretty tall guy and I have always liked the short girls best, although I was too shy to ask any of them out......
Reply:height differences shouldn't matter
Reply:i'm 6'6 and would have no problem dating a girl your size. I'm sure if you act normal and be yourself, and flirt a little, he will start noticing you more. Alot of people say they have these height standards, but that always gets thrown out the window when you really like someone.
Reply:that is a big hieght difference, but its ok, if u like him, it doesnt matter
Reply:I am 6'1 and my wife is 5'1 there is a little difference. Some guys are shy, maybe he feels the same way about you, saying something like she doesn't want to talk to me cause I am so tall, strike a conversation and see where it goes

.
Reply:no problem
Reply:no, its not a big difference. im 5'0 and my man is 6'2 some guys that are that tall like short girls. He probably is shy thats why he doesnt talk to you but dont think its because of your height. but talk to him and mabey you can see him in a different setting where you can wear heels!
Reply:I'm 6' 3" and my wife is 5' 0". I would not trade her for anything (taller or otherwise). Sometimes good things come in small packages!!!!

Good luck!

Question for the guys!!?

I knew this guy 3 years ago in school, but I moved across the country, and recently I moved back to the same area. when he found out about it, he said "what?!??!?! are you serrious?? u gotta come bowling with me!!!" (because he works at a bowling alley). then we were talking and he said "i should get you to come to winter ball next year", and he just keeps dropping these hints. and we're going to this plain white t's concert on the weekend. is he being friendly or do you think he likes me?? =)

yeah and he did say he would buy me bowling shoes :D haha.

Question for the guys!!?
why ask this question twice?

I'm sure he could like you.
Reply:sounds like he likes you
Reply:he wants to get laid. Big surprise when he finds out your secret.
Reply:Yep, he definitely likes you. Boys aren't especially good at being that thoughtful unless they like them.
Reply:yeah, unless he does the same with other girls.
Reply:He seems like he's a nice guy and that he really likes you. I don't think that he is trying to just be friendly. If I just wanted to be good friends with someone I wouldn't do all of that, and I usually do a lot for my friends. Good luck with him, and maybe tell him you like him (if you do), or maybe surprise him with a kiss! =)
Reply:I Think he Likes you..
Reply:First of all, the Plain White T's suck...EMO..only one good song which is Hey There Delilah. Second of all, its obvious he likes you, and if you like him tell hime, if not just say you like being friends with him, and wouldnt want to go any further

Names of business establishments you don't hear of anymore? Lil' Black Sambos (Now Sambos), The Gay Blade ( a

clothing store for men in Oregon and elsewhere, now called The Blade, and my favorite a bowling alley(colored pink, I am not making this up) in Fruitland, Idaho, called the Gayway bowling alley. The first and last time I saw it was in 1978. They used to advertise it in the local newspaper as " bowl the gayway." I think in 1978 backwater Idaho they had not learned that the word "gay" had another meaning. I tried to imagine conservative(I think they lynched liberals) Fruitlanders in Idaho sashaying down the alley, mincing as they walked to the line, with their pink velveteen bowling shoes, getting ready with limp wrist, to release their balls.

Should i return the boots!!!?

I went bowling with friends and we were the last to leave. My friends left to get the car leaving me to return my bowling shoes. Handed them in and the girl said my shoes were not there (black ballet pumps) i went mad. I spotted a pair of boots on the floor, i was shouting at the girl and said, well you have obivously given them to someone else, she said no, so i demanded the boots. The girl didn't know what to say and i was now screaming at her, she handed me the boots, knee high tan stilettos, and i pulled them on and stormed out fuming, threatening her with legal action. When i got in the car my friends held up my shoes and said "do you want these" i could have died. I was a little drunk and i am now really embarised, should i return them or just keep them and forget it. They were quite worn and bashed up so not as if they are new, and they do fit me!! what should i do???

Should i return the boots!!!?
You should return them to the bowling alley.
Reply:yea..just leave them on the counter when no one is looking
Reply:You need to return them.
Reply:of course you should return them, and apologize to the woman - it wouldn't help to bring your friend who had your shoes - why would they bring your shoes to the car?
Reply:the right thing...........go back, return the boots and apologize and don't blame it on the booze
Reply:Return the boots hon. Your conscience will thank you later. Wouldn't hurt to apologize to the gal you yelled at either.
Reply:Leave it at the counter. If the person catches you doing the act, just say that you found it somewhere.
Reply:Well you should probably return them. . .Thing is, the person who owned the boots probably won't look for them still at the bowling place. She probably already freaked out and had to do something already. . .But you never know, I would do it because it's the right thing to do.
Reply:secretly return
Reply:return them, =] good luck
Reply:Remember how you felt when you found out that your shoes weren't there? That is probably how someone else is feeling now about those old boots. Of course, they're never going to think to go back and look for them again, so the deed is already done. I would still do the right thing and return them to the bowling alley. They aren't yours and you have no right to keep them.
Reply:You should do the right thing and return them and apologize for going off on her. to amny people these days aren't willing to do the right thing anymore and it's really bad it is all part of why our country is going down the toilet. We can use every bit of honesty and kindness we can get.
Reply:Go back to the bowling alley with the boots in a bag and after you've been there awhile turn them in to lost and found. Tell them you found them in the bathroom or something. I have a really beat up pair of boots that I would be lost without. It's not the owner of the shoes' fault your friends are morons.

What do you think of these Nike Air Force One?

Ok, i just bought these air forces and just wanted to get other peoples opinion. First of all, I wanted a shoe that had black.

At first when i got the air forces they looked cool, but as I got home they and tried them on, they looked like dancing shoes or even bowling shoes and I don't want to look like I'm wearing them. So do u think I should return them and exchange them for a different black shoe? Or keep them? What is a good replacement shoe (nike) that is black?

Here's what they look like: http://www.pickyourshoes.com/new3/nike_a...

What should I do? This isn't even my fault.?

Ok let me tell you what happened. My friends all went out bowling and I was thankful for once some girls came lol. Anyways that's not the problem. The problem is by the end of the night it was me and two of my friends and my friend was acting like an idiot (I mean he is a nice guy) but he walked out and stole a pair of bowling shoes on purpose. I told him as soon as we walked out (when I notice it) Take those back in right now! I don't want to see you get in trouble or even see you in prison but he never did. Then when I dropped him off tonight he left those shoes in my car and I gave my other friend the shoes to put in his bowling bag. I swear why did he have to do this in the first place? Now what should I do. I got a few answers to my question but I don't know the better answer. I was thinking A. Just me and my innocent friend go up to the guy and said that our one friend took them by accident or maybe on purpose or B. Go in the bowling alley and just somehow leave them under a seat

What should I do? This isn't even my fault.?
Just give the shoes back and say you walked out with them on accident. Why would he want to steal bowling shoes anyhow? Like hundreds of people have worn them before... 0o..

and calm down.

you can't go to prison for stolen bowling shoes.

Reply:just talk to him n tell it to him like it is. lol.

tell him to take the shoes back, n if he doesnt want to then u could always take them back urself n say u found them outside n thought u should bring them in so u'll end up looking like a good guy. lol.
Reply:i would just take them back and say ...my friend left these in my car from the other night ..i dont know if he knew he took them or not but i want to return them to you guys..and they will just thank you and take them back...
Reply:I like the previous answer, return the shoes and say you found them in your car and it seems your friend walked out with them by accident. (btw, is it the same size you wear? Easier if it's not then they know it was really your friend and not you :P)

Next time if you're driving, tell your friend he won't get into your car until he returns those shoes. If he doesn't, he can walk home (on those shoes or not, his problem) It's a lousy thing to first walk out with those shoes on purpose and then leave them in your vehicle! 'Nice guy'? A thief who steals stuff and then drops the stolen goods on one of his friends? Must be some definition of 'nice' I'm not familiar with....
Reply:Well, you're right. It isn't your fault. And your friend may be or may not be a nice guy, but fact is, what he did wasn't cool. Especially the part about leaving them in your car. If I were you, I'd probably just take them and leave them in the bowling alley without saying anything, because I'd feel awkward trying to explain that one of my friends "accidently" stole a pair of his shoes. But if you're dead-set on going up to the guy, then that's what you do. You don't say he took them, you just say, "He took them by mistake and then left them in my car. I'm really sorry for the bother." Go when you guys are going to be playing one night and when you're going to be asking for a pair of shoes, and right after you return those, ask for another pair. Hopefully in a different size. That way he won't think YOU took them. If you're the same size, well, then, he'll just have to believe you.

I hope this helps! Good luck, hon.
Reply:There's no easy answer to this! I would get him to return it himself because you don't want to be held responsible for his action. Maybe he did it because he wanted some attention, especially if there were girls around when he did it. He might think that it makes him look cool. Tell him you don't want to hang out with him anymore if he's going to be doing crap like that, because you CAN get in trouble for the things that he does.
Reply:no no no don't do A or B OK, A makes your friend look like a dumb @ s S even though he probably is (you cant dis you friends no matter what!) and B you could just get caught stashing them and risk someone blaming you for trying to still, just walk in and tell them "hey i found these shoes outside in the parking LOT", easy, simple and nothing to worry about. those people have so many shoes they lose track of how many there are or if some are even missing, they will think nothing of it and just take the shoes. good luck and don't worry. ; )

Is this legal?

Ok random question over something stupid that made me mad.

I go to this place called Lunar Bowl like a couple of times a yr to bowl. Anyways I got into a dispute the last time with the manager over them having to take my drivers license or I do not rent bowling shoes. I found it ridiculous. I told him he could have my shoes they are worth more but they don't need my personal information on my license to be holding. Bowling shoes cost like a dollar anyway. Is it legal to take your drivers license and withhold you from bowling if you do not want to give it?

Is this legal?
Yes, they can ask to hold your driver's license. They have that right.

You, if you don't like it (I wouldn't like it either) have the right to bring your own shoes, go to a different bowling alley, tell all your friends to go to a different bowling alley, or take up golf.

There's no constitutional right to bowl.
Reply:yeah its their place so their rules. its not discrimination, they ask the same of everybody. Rubbish, I know. Take your custom elsewhere. Or pretend to leave your licence at home and offer them something else. They should want your money enough to give in.

Could be that people get drunk there and might drive home drunk, so they take the licence to make sure.
Reply:I'm pretty sure they reserve the right to refuse to serve anyone for any reason. If their rules are too strict, don't do business there.

Do you think anyone will actually buy these shoes? Even though the company does not produce footwear and is just trying to ride a fad of "dri fit" clothing for all it's worth.

Not to mention they had the lamest Super Bowl commercial. I actually laughed out loud at it.

Under Armour shoes?
Of course people will buy them, otherwise they wouldn't sell them. They use focus groups and show them to potential customers before they sell them. I think the ones from the commercial were awesome.

I'd say 15-20$ max. Bowling is not expensive!

Bowling advice needed~!?

hi i jus started bowling %26amp; really need some advice from u experts out there~! ^_^

i'm bowling with a spinner release now with a 11pound houseball.

what kind of equipments eg.ball,shoe,glove,etc... i actually need to improve my game

how can i improve my release?

Bowling advice needed~!?
The biggest difference will be in your own ball - I only paid $40 for mine (new). I'd hold off dropping the big bucks until you get more advanced. Your own custom-drilled ball will make a HUGE difference.

Good shoes are worth the investment, too. Academy has reasonable prices, and there's always eBay. Never wear your shoes off the wood-floor if you want them to last - if you go to the bathroom or front desk, take them off or wear shoe covers. Dont' risk stepping in candy or water.

I'd hold off on the glove until you know what you need. Some people don't need them at all (I don't use one).

Eleven pounds is a really light ball. Unless you have some physical problems or are a younger person, etc. I'd suggest some more weight. I have several bowling balls in the weight range of 14 to 15 pounds. I prefer different weights for different oil patterns. 16 pounds, on the other hand, is just too much for me.

Another thing that bothers me is your term, 'spinner' release. In bowling, we do not 'spin' the ball. We rotate it or crank it. We throw a hook.

As for equipment, you're going to want to have your own ball and have it drilled with a fingertip. Fingertip drilling is where you will put your fingers into the ball only up to you first knuckle. By doing this, your fingers will put more 'lift' onto the ball, which will in turn produce 'rotation'.

At this point, start with a simple ball. Don't start with a highly reactive ball. You won't know what to do with it and it will only discourage you. I suggest something like a Classic Zone, a Columbia 300, an Ebonite Nitro.

Get yourself a decent pair of shoes. No need to invest in highly expensive shoes at this point.

I do not suggest the use of a glove. Support of this kind only becomes a dependancy later on in life and your game. If you're comfortable without one, I encourage that.

And of course, there are the little things you'll need. A towel or two, some ball cleaner, Nu Skin, a rosin bag, and some easy slide. Those are the basics.

As for your release, here's my suggestion, once you get that fingertip ball, remember, when you hand comes out of the ball, your thumb should be on top, your fingers below. Your fingers should snap into the palm of your hand. This will help you attain lift. Then, reach out and follow through. Reach out your hand as if you were reaching out to shake hands with the pins. This will help your power.

And always remember, never, ever take your eyes off of your mark until you see your ball go over it!

If you feel you want anymore suggestion, feel free to contact me anytime.

Does bicarb soda in a bowl in the cupboard work to keep mould off shoes?

Never heard of that one.

Does bicarb soda in a bowl in the cupboard work to keep mould off shoes?
No, mould will grow on anything damp or in a damp place.
Reply:clean the shoes then give them a light coating of baby oil .

but not if they are suede .lol
Reply:Hi there, I'm not too sure if bicarb soda keeps mold of shoes, but I do know that it keeps bad odors away. I know that if you stick bicarb soda in the fridge, it keeps odors building up in your fridge.
Reply:Mold thrives in warm, wet environments, so anything you can do to dry out the cupboard will help. If it's a closed cupboard maybe you can just start storing shoes in an open place where they can dry. The soda would certainly help with the smell of the mold, but I honestly don't know whether it dehumidifies the air or not, but it might.

Another note: if your shoes have had mold on them in the past, they may be infected with it, so that just rubbing it off or whatever will not prevent it from growing back. Maybe you should start with new shoes or wash these shoes with bleach if you can to make sure that you're not just regrowing the same mold over and over.

you should not be getting answer off the net.

sorry but do your own work!
Reply:Well the shoes cost 1.50 altogether and so they were left with 7.50 and if there was 5 games altogether then each game cost 2.50

What level maths is this??????
Reply:ok total money spent is 9 dollars.

you know they spent 1.50 on shoes.

9.00 - 1.50 =7.50 // that is 7.50 spent on bowling.

now you know a total of five games were played. so you get

7.50 / 5 = 1.50

so each game was approximately $1.50

Reply:My shoe size depends on the shoe itself. They range between a 4 in kids and a 8 in women's. Their not really a problems to me, their more of an advantage because I can get shoes at a cheaper price.
Reply:mine's 8 or 8 1/2 u.s.womens, which is a fairly common size. The only problem I find is if they're out of my size. (since it's common). I've never heard of having size 16 u.s. feet. For bowling, you could just wear socks. That's what we always did when we were too small for the shoes. Some dots of fabric paint on the bottom would make them not so slippery.

Why does my dog take a mouth full of her food from her clean bowl, and put it in my stinky shoes to eat.?

Your dog is trying to tell you that she needs some spices or relishes for her food. Perhaps some Limburger or gorgonzola cheese will do the trick.

Seriously, i doubt that there is a rational reason for this. Perhaps she is surreptitiously dropping a hint that you should join her in enjoying her taste -treat.

One of my dogs puts large rocks in the communal dog food bowl when she is done eating. I think that she is trying to put my overweight dog on a diet!

Fuzzbutt: I love your avatar!

I don't know but that is funny!!

Maybe your shoe isn't all that stinky to her!?
Reply:b/c she is SILLY!

= )

I've never heard of such a silly thing. Yeah, putting it on the floor in another room to eat it, but not in a smelly shoe. Maybe she does it so you won't steal it ... like you would, but she doesn't know that for sure.
Reply:Because............Dogs do that kinda of thing because the smell is not so bad to them.
Reply:thats cute....my dog picks up her food and eats it where I can see her...sometimes next to me.
Reply:Let me guess - you have a small dog.

I have two toy fox terriers (5 and 12 pounds full-grown) and they simply cannot eat without picking up a mouthful of food, walking over to the door mat by the back door, spitting out the food, and then eating it one piece at a time. Then they go back to the bowl and do it all over again.

My wife had yorkies that did the same thing every time they ate.

Anyway, it could be that the dog really loves you and that smell of your stinky shoes is very comforting to her. So much that she wants to flavor her food with it.
Reply:rofl! Obviously she enjoys the shoe smell better than the smell of her food. that's sooo funny!
Reply:She probably doesn't think your shoe smells bad..she probably thinks it smells like you [not that you smell] and in putting her food in your shoe, she is associating with you. Sometimes our critters can do the strangest things.......its not much different then a dog sleeping on your shirt......just their way of staying close to you.! :)
Reply:Not only does your dog love you, she loves you most when you smell, unconditional love! Your dog is typical, stinky food is great for dogs that don't eat well. Garlic is a great enticer or maybe you have given people of finicky eater's a great idea. Get an old stinky pair of shoes and try putting food in them.

Please, help.. fourteen year old needs to learn how to tie shoes?

Hey, everyone. I'm fourteen years old, and no matter how hard I've tried over the years, I just can't get the hang of tying my shoes. I don't get it - it's not like I'm stupid, I'm an A student, yet I can't do something as simple as tie my shoes. This is an issue I'd like to address so I can personally, you know, tie my own shoes and not worry about it all day when they come untied, or having to do some weird "tuck them in" trick at the bowling ally. Please, if you have any advice on how to teach an older dog a young dog's trick, please help.

Please, help.. fourteen year old needs to learn how to tie shoes?
I'm sorry, but I just had to laugh when I saw this question.

Anyways, you could try taking one lace, make it into a loop, take the other lace, wrap it around, and then pull it together. This is the loop, swoop and pull method.

Or you could try making bunny ears with both laces, and pull one bunny ear through the hole in the middle of the two bunny ears. This is the bunny ears method.

I hope I made sense, if not you might want to try some of the websites that have been suggested here.
Reply:It`s ok. You`ve gotten some great answers and I just wanted to tell you that my daughter has the same problem with her motor control when it comes to tying her shoes and we get velcro for her or a slip on. Some kids just have trouble with it.
Reply:go here: http://www.wikihow.com/Tie-Your-Shoes
Reply:Get loop laces, they are simple to tie, and look like regular shoelaces. www.looplace.com
Reply:There are shoes thaat fasten onto your feet without laces. Good at any age, and very fashionable.
Reply:if ur a girl wear flats, if ur a boy, wear vans or slip on shoes
Reply:Okay take an end of the lace in each hand. make an x and loop one under the other. then you should have a smallish knot and then you take each end again and just make a loop with each of them. then cross the loops and put on under the other and pull. that should work otherwise look it up on google or something.

I want to go bowling and i need to know how much it will cost?

Bowling @ Saint Lucie Lanes %26lt;if anyone can do a better search on google or something%26gt; i need to know how much every thing cost lanes, shoes ect.

I want to go bowling and i need to know how much it will cost?
I imagine it differs region to region. Here it costs typically $4 a game and about the same to rent shoes. It is not typically mandatory to rent shoes, as long as they are rubber non-marking soles. Some people prefer to bowl in their socks.

What is the legal shoe that should be worn when bowling in a league?

There is no set legalized type of shoe for bowling. There is a professional bowler that qualifies for the TV final shows that makes a living out of it and uses tennis shoes exclusively because his style does not consist of a slide. I've used Keds brand tennis shoes (in out of the box condition) when the approaches are extremely slippery.

What is the legal shoe that should be worn when bowling in a league?
There is no "legal" shoe for bowling in a league. Bowling does require a special shoe that allows your foot to slide. Bowling establishments provide those shoes for a fee; but most league bowlers prefer to buy their own for reasons of cost and consistency of fit.

Going Bowling?

I am going bowling but how much does it cost to play a game? Also how much does it cost to rent a pair of shoes?

Going Bowling?
In many bowling establishments, the prices vary with the time of day.

In my house, it is $2.60 per game, and $14.00 per hour

Shoes rent for $2.00
Reply:It depends on the bowling hall. Some halls also charge per game and some per hour, and generally the hour cost is $6-$20. I don't know about the game cost since all the bowling halls here operate with a per hour charge.

For the shoes, that generally isn't very much, in my local hall, they charge $1.50.

How can I make a bowling ball spin fast down a lane?

Recently, my husband and I have taken up bowling. He won a bowling ball and I ordered one. I am scoring in the 60's and we bowl twice a week. I am getting very frustrated now. I want to learn how to spin the ball, make it go fast down the lane, and score some major strikes. Please help me....I have invested some money into the ball, bag, and shoes.

How can I make a bowling ball spin fast down a lane?
First, control is worth MUCH more than speed. Yes, you want some spin, but the important thing is that you release the ball the same way every time. To get spin, hold the ball with your thumb up, then turn your wrist as you approach so that, as you release the ball, your thumb is down. That will give you spin.

However, learn how to make your approach, and do it the same way every time. Release the ball the same way every time. Then, try approaching from the same location every time, and try hitting the same spot when you release (those little triangles on the lane). Keep experimenting. Sooner or later, you'll find your "spot" and can start working for accuracy.

Once you've done that, try approaching the same way, but hitting a different spot (one right or left) and see where the ball goes. That is how you learn to pick up spares, or left-over pins on either the right or left.

Still, keeping your approach the same every time, holding the ball the same way every time, and releasing it the same way every time will start giving you the control you need to decide where the ball will go once you release it. Keep experimenting. Also, work on your approach (to the foul line) until you've found a way that's comfortable for you (some take three steps, some four). Consistency in these things will give you far better results than uncontrolled speed.

Taking a girl out to bowling?

Yesterday, I heard on Mike and Mike in the Morning, that a member of thier staff, over the weekend went out on his first date, and took a girl bowling, Mike Greensburg kept saying to Mike Golic, that is wasn't about him, plus the fact he has been married for the past 10 years, but the girl scored 200 points, and the guy, who refused to let it be known who he is, only scored 60. Guys put yourself in this man's shoes, if this had been you, how would you feel about it, or what would you do about it, or you stop dating her, or no more dates to a bowling alley?

Taking a girl out to bowling?
thats funny.

i always go out with my friends when i bowl, a mix of both guys and girls. and i always end up beating everyone everytime we play.

my guy friends don't get all bent out of shape, their impressed that a lil girlie girl can actually beat them. lol.

take it in stride. shouldn't be a competition. its bowling. its about having fun.
Reply:If I was in that man's situation I would be very happy about what happened. It is nice to win but having fun is far more important than winning. Getting beat by a girl is never anything to be embarrassed about, I would not care if everybody knew she beat me. Why should it be a problem? It is just a game. Games are supposed to be a way to relax and have fun. If it is a girl I like and she is fun to be with, I would feel like the winner even if she beat me in every game we played. I would keep dating her and I would be ready to go to the bowling alley anytime she gets ready and I would enjoy every minute of it.
Reply:Its a game. Supposed to be fun. No need to make it serious. Its not like she assaulted him physically...Maybe his ego.

Bowling at AMF?

I would like to know approximately how much it would cost to bowl at an AMF bowling alley for like four guys playing three games? If you have been to AMF with a group could you tell me how much it costs including renting the shoes?

Bowling at AMF?
Our closest bowling center is an AMF center, but each game is $5.50 in the evening, 7 days a week and $5 a game after 10PM. They will also rent a lane for 1 hour at $22-25 per, depending on what day or time you go. Shoe rental is $4.50 per person.
Reply:it is different at each area call your local amf and see how much they charge for it.

my local amf was about 4.50 for shoes and like 3-4 per game

Wii Bowling?

I bought a Wii in September and my family loves to play bowling on Wii Sports. The problem is that there are no modes to keep it interesting and no options to deepen the game play. A couple of Wii bowling games have come out but they stink. Why doesn't Nintendo develop a stand alone bowling game based on the Wii sports engine that includes league play, career mode, shopping options (balls, shirts, shoes etc.). I know this game would be a hit and would sell incredibly well. Does anyone know if they are developing something like this? (Please don't AMF Pinbusters becasue the game engine itself is severly flawed.)

Wii Bowling?
These games that are on wii sports were originally developed more to show what the wii can do and to introduce you to the type of play rather then be a game. The interesting things they threw in were the Wii Training games and the daily thing to improve your daily score. I am glad you told me the AMF game stinks because I was going to consider renting it since my family too is very into the bowling. Maybe in the future we can see and updated wii sports but I doubt it. They have their focus on a lot of interesting titles that I am sure they wont bother going way back to the basics of wii sports. interesting idea you have though you should try contacting nintendo on it.
Reply:How do you know it would be a hit and sell well?

If the 2 biggest bowling company in the world AMF and Brunswick are not welling to put the money into it than most likely no other companies will. It's just like any other none football, basketball, and baseball sport games their just isn't enough profit for it. Before Tiger Wood came into the picture can you name a great golf game? The margin of profit would be so small if any that it's not worth it for them to make a great bowling game. Why do you think those 2 bowling games for WII are only $20 dollars? Yes, they aren't the best but people are just not buying it. Even at $20, they still can't get it to sell.
Reply:Havent heard anything recently. Unfortunately Nintendo is known for never having strong 3rd party support in the game development department. For now, keep trying whatever you can. One thing ive tried is going into another room and "blind bowl" I live in an apartment so it might be easier to do that way. but if there a wall or something you can go behind and not see the tv. try that. i knw it sounds a little corny, but its actually quite fun...very unpredictable of course. Good Luck
Reply:well why don't you go real bowling with your family for a real challenge. maybe put some money involved? and with the money you win you can buy your bowling shoes and shirts. there you go problem solved. you wanted a challenge, family playtime, bowling shoes and shirts. this comes with all. sack of wine.

Bowling Q: Having to start over...?

I've been bowling pretty much my whole life the wrong way. First off, I used my middle and pointer finger instead of my middle and ring. Second, I've been using the house stuff (shoes, balls). Average: 152.

Since then I've bought my own ball, albeit a cheap non-reactive ball, adjusted my grip and bought my own shoes. I've also started to try to hook the ball with low-to-moderate success. I'm having great difficulty being consistent even though my 4-step drop is good. Average: 124.

I do 5 games in a day, but only 1 day for fear I'll severly sprain some fingers. Should I practice more? Are there any tips the Yahoo community can give me?

Appreciate the input.

Bowling Q: Having to start over...?
I bowl with my middle and pointer, and I do fine. it's not like your cheating when you bowl like that, so if your good bowling with your middle and pointer keep bowling like that.
Reply:I'm not very good with advice. I'm one of those that can do it, but to explain it is a whole other story.

However, if your truly interested in taking your game to the next level, I would definitely recommend a few lessons. Very important though to learn how to throw a straight ball before attempting a hook. Once you've mastered throwing a straight ball, your instructor or your local pro shop should be able to help recommend a good entry-level reactive ball. Plastic balls aren't meant to hook. They're meant for either beginners like yourself or for spares. You can force a small hook on it, but it will never have a natural hook to it. So when your ready for a hook ball, get a new one, but keep this one for your spares.

Also, although bowling with your pointer and middle, is definitely considered unconventional, if it works for you, then why not?? However, I wouldn't neccessarily nix the idea of bowling middle/ring fingers right away. Give yourself a chance to change habits and see how it works. Your avg. might initially go down since your not used to it yet, but long-term your avg. could definitely go up. But again, if after your give it a chance, you still see it not working, then go back to your old way. There is no right or wrong, its what works for you.

Good luck and keep practiceing
Reply:Maybe you're trying to put too much change into your game all at once. With a new grip, new ball, etc.

Being that you have a non-reactive ball, you may want to simply give time to adjust to that without the hook.

I also have a cheap non reactive ball and have no luck with a large hook. I have a small hook that comes on at the end.

I get this by concentrating on where my thumb is:

I'm right handed:

Upon forward ascension of the ball, my thumb is at 3 o'clock. Right at release, my thumb is at 12 o'clock and no more.

By doing this and by spot bowling (never looking at the pins) I can usually get 3x's in a row pretty consistently in a game.

Good luck to you.
Reply:Well, lets' see what i can do. Let's go over this

Wrong Grip: 152

Right Grip: 124

Who says your grip is wrong? I assume you have the ball drilled to your "right" grip. Hmmm.

What you did is buy another house ball really that isn't as beat up...

You won't sprain your fingers. I know guys that bowl 4 hours a day. Old retired guys, but still.

You need to know the oil pattern. that will also control the hook. Non reactive balls aren't going to break like reactive balls. YOu need to find your spot and hit it.

I'm going to say this. If you can still do the old way, try it. See what happens. I'm off the opinion, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I can throw a 2 finger ball and hook the dickens out of it and be fairly accurate. Using your old grip and giving the ball a 1/4 turn when you release should put some good spin on the ball. otherwise you'll be throwing a flat ball. I love bowling and I've seen every kind of delivery. If it works, use it.

That's my Take
Reply:For the hook, there a few keys to being successful using that approach.

1) Keep your wrist straight and keep it locked all the way through your delivery.

2) Keep your elbow in, don't let it fly out on your delivery.

3) Let the ball do the work. You shouldn't need to put a lot of arm power behind it. On your backswing just let the ball drop and let the momentum from your backswing carry the ball forward to your release point.

4) The slower you roll, the more break you'll get. The best way to slow the ball down is to slow your approach down. Find a good equilibrium between the ball speed and ammount of break.

5) THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. Your follow through is key. A complete follow through can mean the difference between hitting the pocket and hitting the head pin 1/2" high and leaving a nasty split. When your motion is done, your thumb should hit you in the forehead and your fingers should be pointing straight up in the air.

Work on these things and you should see a noticeable difference. Practice is always good, I bowl 20-25 games a week and have never sprained my fingers. They've gotten swollen a couple times, but no injuries. Also, with a non-reactive ball you won't get as much action as you would see with a composite reactive resin ball, so don't expect too much out of your equipment.

Bowling!!!?

how much does an average bowling ally charge for 1 game? and if possible do you know about how much shoes are. I'm not looking for a specific price, just a price range. I 've never been bowling before....thank you very much in advance

Bowling!!!?
The rate per game is going to vary on a number of factors. Most important to you however would be time and day. On the weekends, bowling alleys charge a premium for each game. Likely $4 to $6 per game. Weekday evenings are slightly less expensive ($2 to $4) and daytime during the week is the least expensive ($1 to $3). Either way, be sure to call in advance to check lane availability. If leagues are scheduled, there may not be any lanes available or perhaps a long waiting list. Another option to explore is 'rent-a-lane'. You can often find bowling alleys that allow unlimited bowling on a per hour basis at a cost of anywhere between $12 and $20 per lane, per hour. This is a great option if you are bowling with a large group of people. Shoe rental fees don't change with the time and day. You can rent shoes for $2 to $3 bucks.
Reply:usually anywhere from 3-6 dollars for a game and 2-3 dollars for shoes.
Reply:i dont know where you are located but if you are in the area of a brunswick zone prices definatly vary. they can range from 1 buck per game per person to 3.99 per game per person. its really best to call and bug the people at hte bowling center. we tend to know all muwhahaha.

BUT

if you are either a.) near a brunswick zone or b.) know a bowling center that accepts competitors coupons i would suggest going to www.bowlbrunswick.com

if you sign up there you get a free hour of bowling and other coupons and shizznazz. I sound like a sales person.

In all honesty, go to bowlbrunswick.com, get free coupons and bowl cheaper than if you would to go in there with no coupons (o and its free).

hope you enjoy bowling!!!
Reply:if you go on a friday or saturday night its about $32 for two people (shoes included) on one lane all night (as many games as you want) plus some allys have a dj and its pretty fun. they also turn on the black light so wear a white shirt so you can glow in the dark : )
Reply:if you want, go to a Brunswick zone, if you go to their website and sign up for their rewards zone, they will send you sumthing along the lines of dollar games, or a free hour of bowling. They are only good at Bruzswick zones tho!!!!!!
Reply:It depends on your area, so your best bet would be to contact a local bowling alley and ask them. Around here, it's about $10.00 for a couple of games and a pair of shoes.

What type of bowling ball should I get?

I know there are several different types of bowling balls available, such as matte, polished, sanded, and high polish. I am a little overwhelmed by all these types. I am a righty, big guy, 280lbs, 16lbs feels comfortable. I have never owned a bowling ball. I am accustomed to the AMF/Brunswick house balls at the bowling centers. I am now averaging 170 with those house balls (and crusty rented shoes). I feel like taking it to the next level. Maybe getting my own ball and some good shoes can boost my average up. I hold the ball a little unorthodox. I use my middle and my pointer and I don't really put my fingers in the holes, only the fingertips. I don't put the thumb in the hole either. I stand on the farthest 2 arrows on the right, I release and create a slight curve into the left of the head pin. It's been pretty successful so far but I need to what type of ball can create a similar feel as those generic balls but only with a lot more consistency. I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

What type of bowling ball should I get?
Perfect question! My son bowls with the same style, but uses his middle and ring finger and no thumb. He cranks the ball with massive revolutions in that style with a cupped wrist. I think that you will raise your average way above your current 170 by purchasing your own bowling ball, of which these may be beneficial. They are as follows:

Brunswick Power Groove Reactives

Columbia Reactive Scouts

Hammer Reactive "Raw" Lines

Storm Jolt Pearls

Storm "Tropical Storms"

These balls (avg. price from $50-$80 online) are perfect for your style of bowling because they will not overreact and hook too much. Just keep polishing them and they will help get the job done. Also, having the finger holes drilled to your specifications to match your finger size is better than using house balls. It'll prevent aches, pains and blisters.

Bowling shoes are also affordable and can range below $50 in some cases. You will save from paying for rental shoes every time too! Try "Buddies Pro Shop" or "bowling.com" online for discounted shoes and bowling balls.

Good luck!
Reply:The best way to answer that is to go to a pro shop and ask the guy behind the counter. It all depends on how old you are, and if you want power or finesse.
Reply:OK, lets see. You hold the ball wrong, and you use crappy equipment. I would go to the pro shop and have a ball drilled with a fingertip grip. I also would suggest an Ebonite ball. Something mid range. As for the proper cover stock. Use something right out of the box, and see how it works. If it hooks to much polish it, if not enough, sand it. If you have any questions hollar at me. I have been bowling since 75 and would be glad to help.
Reply:i would go with a round one

Bowling Equipment?

Looking into getting some low-end bowling equipment.

How much does it cost for a fairly cheap ball and shoes?

Also what are some good places/companies that sell equipment for someone just starting to get serious but doesnt want to spend alot?

Thanks

Bowling Equipment?
Most bowling alleys have pro shops. Even if you are a beginner starting out, you will want to get fitted so they can drill your grips properly. Do not let them sell you reactive resin balls and the whole alley.

I would suggest a fairly simple plastic Zone (name brand is Zone). They range around $35 to $100 depending on design and you can even get them used and fitted for around $40 to $60. (I have a plastic Zone for 10 pins and 2 other Zones)

Zone is a very dependable ball and plastic will allow you to work on your form. Until you can master your technique and how much hook you will throw, a plastic ball will also allow you to learn how to make your adjustments easier.

There is so much to learn about bowling that is much more then hurling a ball down the lane. Even the way they drill your grips can effect how much the ball will hook.

The game is all about adjustments and moving your lines and/or boards. I would try and keep things as simple as possible at first. Have fun with it.

Shoes can be found at Wal Mart, online or at pro shop.

Etonic usually carries a inexpensive shoe around $25.

Long term, if you get serious, video tape yourself and/r get a coach. Best of luck. Bowling can be a lot of fun and very competitive!
Reply:if you want a cheap ball you can get them for around 50-80 dollars... those are the maxims.... and you can probably get shoes for around 20 dollars... also i would suggest a towel and some rosin to go along with your ball
Reply:Check Sears/KMart for entry level bowling equipment from bags, balls and shoes. They sell basic urethane bowling balls for about $30-$45, which will still hook on today's lane conditions. Bags range from $25-$69 and shoes range from $25-$45.

Online, you can check Buddies Pro Shop, bowlersparadise.com, bowling.com, bowlingball.com and bowlingballsales.com for their discount or closeout equipment sections.

On the low end, if you are serious about the game, you can purchase the Brunswick Avalanche, Hammer Vibe, Brunswick Groove, Columbia Scout or Storm Jolt to start. They are affordable at around $50-$75 each, which will come out to about $105 with drilling at your local bowling center or pro shop. Hope this helps!

A bowling alley costs 3$ per game and 1.50 shoe rental. Write a linear equation for the cost of...?

...of bowling x games. Should this be in slope-intercept or standard formula. What about the decimal? Thanks!

A bowling alley costs 3$ per game and 1.50 shoe rental. Write a linear equation for the cost of...?
y = 3x + 1.50

x being the # of games played. y being total cost.

If you don't like the 1.5 you can always write it as 3/2.

First date...bowling???

I'm going on a date this weekend with a girl I'd only met once, and very briefly. She's friends with a girlfriend of a guy I work with so the 4 of us are gonna meet for some drinks and then go moonlight bowling afterwards. I'm a fairly decent bowler...got my own ball %26amp; shoes, anyway...and I wanted to know if I should bowl serious-like or should I just play to level of the folks i'm with. I don't want to appear like i'm some sort of bowling fiend (which I'm not), but I also don't want it to seem like i'm not trying in order to make her feel good (seems like deception to me). Truth is, she may be better than I am...but I think she does it just for the fun.

Also, if she doesn't have her own shoes, should I wear the same old ratty rental shoes that she has to???

First date...bowling???
This is funny b/c it reminds me of me and my husbands first date. We went bowling and I had my own shoes and ball but I am not that good so I didnt impress him with any bowling skills. He actually beat me pretty bad. If I were you I would just use the crapy shoes and ball they have there but be yourself when playing the game. Just let her know up front that you are a good bowler. Good Luck!!
Reply:my first date with my current b/f was bowling. he was in a league and stuff also but not too serious, kinda like you. he brought his own ball and shoes. i was very impressed when he started showing off his bowling technique. just bowl the level you are at and if she asks for some pointers go up and stand next to her to show her how to bowl. if she is as good or better then get a friendly competition going. do not be something that you are not.
Reply:i would bowl like you bowl for fun

dont bring your shoes.. or even your ball

When asked whether they would choose to drop a bowling ball on their foot or drop kick a puppy...?

When asked whether they would choose to drop a bowling ball on their foot or drop kick a puppy, 97% of the people chose to drop kick the puppy. A few people chose to drop the bowling ball on their foot with steel-toed shoes... others chose to wear steel-toed shoes to kick the puppy. Which side would YOU choose?

(I did this survey in my church group a few days ago)

When asked whether they would choose to drop a bowling ball on their foot or drop kick a puppy...?
Uh... I would drop the bowling ball on my balls instead of drop kicking a puppy
Reply:Bowling ball with any kind of shoes any day before I would ever drop kick a puppy or any other animal for that matter. Bad church members you got there that would rather kick the puppy.
Reply:*Snoring* ''Zzzzz".....

Oh, hey there! *yawn*

I dunno which one I shall choose... *scratching head* Why did you ask that?

If you asked me.... I could say drop a bowling ball on my foot with the steel-toed shoes. Hurting animals is a sin.

Good night!

Which do you think is better, a job at a grocery store or a job at the new bowling alley?

I have been working at a local grocery store as a bagger for about 3 months now. It's not very hard work except for going outside to bring in carts and they are very flexible on hours. The only problem is I only get paid $6.55 and have to pay union dues on top of that. (I'm only 16 so I don't get anything from the union).

Recently, I got offered a job at this Brunswick Zone which has laser tag and bowling. I got offered a position at the bowling counter that brings shoes to people and cleans off tables. My friend has the same job and said it's really easy. I also get payed $7.25 an hour there. My problem with it is I think I am going to have to work weekends a lot, which I don't think I'll like since I want a life outside of work, and I'm not sure how flexible they will be on my hours.

Which job do you think I should take?

Which do you think is better, a job at a grocery store or a job at the new bowling alley?
it depends on what you think will help further your career. it's good to be part of a union because union members typically have better wages and benefits in the long run but what puzzles me is why you are paying dues and you don't get the benefits, because you're only 16. also, which job will give you the flexibility to work with your current school schedule. also look at the job itself. it's not just about bagging groceries, there are many other positions you can work at the store. look for what skills and abilities you can add to your resume of qualifications. as for the bowling alley, you'll make more per hour and probably have more fun. what else is there at the alley that you can add to your resume? also, you don't want your weekends tied up, so you might not want to work there. it's not always about money either. if you are just working to make a paycheck and you don't want your weekends wasted, then stay where you are, but definitely question the union dues. also, work at what you like. you don't want to be miserable. also think about what will give you flexibility. when you leave for college, if you do, can you come back to the job during breaks in your education and during summers off? there is a lot that you have to consider. how will the job further your future career? what skills and education will show a future employer more? when you answer these questions, you will know which job to keep. i wish you all the best
Reply:I now that job with pays more but the grocery store would be better, because of the more time you put in. Just because you are 16 dose not mean the union not there for you
Reply:Dude...you're 16, go for the money. You're gonna want a good car later on right?
Reply:If it were me, I would probably take the job at the bowling alley. Kind of confused as to why a bagger is paying union dues though.
Reply:look at what the jobs can give you, money? thats one thing but you dont want to be at either really cos you need to goto college and study,
Reply:Ask about the hours. If they're flexible, then say adios to your veggies.
Reply:it's really up to you, though working at the grocery store is more common for someone your age. however, being that the bowling alley is new, it may benefit you more. and if your friend works there too, then it would make it all that much easier to fit in. and if you get paid more than you would at your grocery store, then all the more better for you.
Reply:id go with bowling alley because youd get free bowling, free food, and free laser tag do the math, big deal workin at a grocery store--free uncooked food
Reply:Bowling sounds more fun. It all comes down to you, not me
