Why does my dog take a mouth full of her food from her clean bowl, and put it in my stinky shoes to eat.?

Your dog is trying to tell you that she needs some spices or relishes for her food. Perhaps some Limburger or gorgonzola cheese will do the trick.

Seriously, i doubt that there is a rational reason for this. Perhaps she is surreptitiously dropping a hint that you should join her in enjoying her taste -treat.

One of my dogs puts large rocks in the communal dog food bowl when she is done eating. I think that she is trying to put my overweight dog on a diet!

I don't know but that is funny!!

Maybe your shoe isn't all that stinky to her!?
Reply:b/c she is SILLY!

= )

I've never heard of such a silly thing. Yeah, putting it on the floor in another room to eat it, but not in a smelly shoe. Maybe she does it so you won't steal it ... like you would, but she doesn't know that for sure.
Reply:Because............Dogs do that kinda of thing because the smell is not so bad to them.
Reply:thats cute....my dog picks up her food and eats it where I can see her...sometimes next to me.
Reply:Let me guess - you have a small dog.

I have two toy fox terriers (5 and 12 pounds full-grown) and they simply cannot eat without picking up a mouthful of food, walking over to the door mat by the back door, spitting out the food, and then eating it one piece at a time. Then they go back to the bowl and do it all over again.

My wife had yorkies that did the same thing every time they ate.

Anyway, it could be that the dog really loves you and that smell of your stinky shoes is very comforting to her. So much that she wants to flavor her food with it.
Reply:rofl! Obviously she enjoys the shoe smell better than the smell of her food. that's sooo funny!
Reply:She probably doesn't think your shoe smells bad..she probably thinks it smells like you [not that you smell] and in putting her food in your shoe, she is associating with you. Sometimes our critters can do the strangest things.......its not much different then a dog sleeping on your shirt......just their way of staying close to you.! :)
Reply:Not only does your dog love you, she loves you most when you smell, unconditional love! Your dog is typical, stinky food is great for dogs that don't eat well. Garlic is a great enticer or maybe you have given people of finicky eater's a great idea. Get an old stinky pair of shoes and try putting food in them.
